Q & A

What makes a Walk with Me Doodle puppy different from other breeders?

We have a unique community of fellow doodle lovers that support and encourage each other everyday for a lifetime. When you become a Walk with Me Doodle family member, you become our family as well as family with all of our other puppy families. We will add you to FB messenger group chat with your other littermates families as soon as the pups are born. You will be invited to giant puppy play dates and gain a group of friends who have the same passion for their pup as you do.

Walk with Me Doodles is not a kennel breeding program, we don’t backyard breed our pups. You will never find an inbred puppy with us. We do in-depth genetic and color testing, as well as, OFA testing to ensure each dog is paired with the best match to produce amazing, beautiful, healthy doodle babies.

We strive to produce consistent temperaments in all of our puppies. No one puppy is better than the other, while each puppy is different and unique. We also believe that nurture versus nature plays heavily into who a puppy becomes. We have tried many different approaches to puppy picks, and have learned that no one litter needs the same thing. We tailor the puppy pick timeline according to what each litter needs. Meaning puppy picks will occur anywhere between 4-7 weeks of age, pending what the puppies and their future families need.

Our puppy culture is unlike any other breeding program. These puppies are born in our home and raised right in the middle of all the activities going on. They get one on one snuggles with our girls immediately. We’ve even done skin to skin with puppies when we’ve had big litters and they need a little extra support. We believe in early neurological stimulation, early scent introduction and introducing the pups to different sounds, textures, environments and activities. There are many different breeding curriculums out there for breeders from Puppy Culture to Badass Breeder and more. We have taken what we believe to be the best of all of the curriculums, plus added in our own personal touch to create the ultimate experience for puppy families and puppies. We are more than a breeder, we are a family and you are apart of that!

We also potty tray train. You may think this is strange. Puppies using a potty tray?! What?! Yep, we’ve heard that reaction many times. We introduce the potty tray when the pups start separating from the pack to potty, usually at 3 weeks of age. By the time they go home to you, they are fully potty tray trained. This is so huge for a puppy transitioning home and relieves a lot of stress from you to truly enjoy the puppy stage. It also teaches them there is a place to potty and helps ease your transition to potty training outside after they are fully vaccinated.

What is the price of one of your puppies?

The going rate for Goldendoodle puppies from a reputable breeder are $2500-$4000 and for Bernedoodles or Golden Mountain Doodles $3000-$5000. There are many factors that go into a reputable breeding program: extensive health testing - both genetic and orthopedic testing, unique puppy culture, veterinary care, vaccinations, microchips, health guarantee, puppy curriculum, evaluations, high quality food and so much more. Backyard breeders don’t go to the extent we do to ensure healthy, happy pups that go to amazing, loving homes.

Prices are dependent on breed, gender & color. For more price information, feel free to email or FB message us.

Do you have a health guarantee?

We do have a health guarantee! We offer a 2 year health guarantee from any genetic diseases if your puppy is spayed or neutered by 1 year of age and all puppy contract guidelines are followed. You must show proof of spay or neuter and proof of genetic disease for a replacement puppy.

How big do your puppies grow to be?

This is dependent on breed and parents. We have micro minis, minis, medium and standard doodles. Our petite goldendoodles & micro mini bernedoodles are typically under 20 pounds. Our mini goldendoodles typically are 20-30 pounds. Our mini golden mountain doodles or bernedoodles average based off of parent size, but can be anywhere from 30-45 pounds. Our medium goldendoodles typically are in the 30-50 pound range.

**We cannot guarantee a puppy will be a certain weight, as many variables can go into their adult size. Please ask more information, as this can vary drastically on who the parents of the litter are.

When can I come get my puppy?

All puppies go home at 8 weeks of age. They need to be with their litter mates and momma prior to this age to develop the skills needed to be on their own.

Is there an application process?

Yes! Please see the link below. We review all applications within 2-3 business days and will text or FB message you with your approval. We don’t just sell puppies to anyone, we carefully pick families who believe in our puppy culture and who are excited to join our community. At that time, we request that you place a $500 non-refundable reservation fee. This fee will be deducted from the overall cost of your puppy. We will place you on the litter list of your choice and help match you to the best puppy per your preferences. Puppies are picked in the order of reservation fees received.

**Should you choose to forgo the litter that you originally chose, we can transfer your reservation fee to another litter for 2 years from the time reservation fee was placed.

Do we require home visits?

No we do not for pet homes. HOWEVER, we do have a rigorous application process. Our puppies families are either vetted by us or someone we know. In our puppy group chats that begin after your pup is born, we do ask for pics of your home, yard and puppy playpen setup to ensure they are going home to a family who is ready and prepared for them.

**We do require home visits for Guardian homes.

How close of a community is Walk with Me Doodles?

We are one big, happy, doodle loving family. The special thing about Walk with Me Doodles is that we are all crazy about our dogs and love to stay involved with each other. So you not only gain us as a family, you gain a community of people who will offer a lifetime of support. We pride ourselves on the community and puppy culture that makes us Walk with Me Doodles.

Do we stay in touch and try to connect with new puppy families after take home?

YES, 100%. The moment you get a puppy from us, you are family for life! We LOVE LOVE LOVE being included in their growth and development and should you ever have questions or concerns Grandma Becki and Grandpa Josh are always here to support, encourage, answer or brainstorm with you. You will NEVER feel alone or in this by yourself. We will even have puppy play dates and get togethers if you’re local to us.

What are the grooming needs of a doodle?

Doodles can have matting of their hair if not groomed regularly. They should be brushed with a line comb and high quality slicker brush often. It is recommended to give your puppy a refresh groom around 6 months of age.

If you like the long haired doodles, daily brushing and upkeep is essential as well as grooming appointments every 4-6 weeks. If you like the shorter hair style, brushing should occur at least 3 times a week and a grooming appointment every 8 weeks.

Doodles also need their ears cleaned regularly. They have long, floppy ears, and if not kept clean and dry, they can develop ear infections.

As with any dog, also ensuring nails are kept short is important for their joint health. Long, unkept nails over time can cause the nail quake to grow out and can lead to early onset arthritis.

Sanitary trims are also important to decrease those dingle berries and any dirt that can lead to infection getting caught there.

Do you ship your puppies?

We do not cargo ship puppies. We would, however, allow a puppy to go home with you if you flew to pick him or her up or paid for a flight nanny. Due to the extreme stress it can place on such a young pup, we do not recommend shipping a puppy on it’s own. We are very protective over our pups!

For those who are in Alaska and want a puppy from us in Texas, we will discount the puppy to help off set the cost of a flight nanny. Please contact us for more information! We LOVE our Alaska doodle family and would send all of our puppies up here if we could!

Can we breed our puppy?

We do sell breeding rights to approved programs only with an additional cost. Please contact us directly to discuss more.

If breeding rights are NOT purchased, all of our puppies are sold with a strict spay/neuter contract. Should we find one of our pups was bred from a spay/neuter contract, we will pursue legal action.

What is a Golden Mountain Doodle?

A Golden Mountain Doodle is a cross between a Goldendoodle (Golden Retriever & Poodle) and a Bernedoodle (Bernese Mountain Dog & Poodle). They are beautiful and the best of both breeds. They tend to be calm, loyal and excellent family dogs.
